Professor and Head of the Polar and Marine Research Department at the Institute of Geophysics PAN. Geologist by education, paleomagnetist by profession for over 40 years. His scientific interests are focused on history of the geomagnetic field, continental drift, and applications of paleomagnetism to the Earth sciences.

He has worked in several areas in Europe (including Svalbard), and recently in Zimbabwe. He has been a leader of several projects funded by Polish science foundations, as well as by the EU.
