dr Lars Eivind Augland
Principal Investigator of the project
Head of the high precision geochronology (U-Pb ID-TIMS) laboratory at the University of Oslo (UoO). His research focuses on the initiation and tempo of emplacement of large igneous provinces (LIPs) and their impact on the environment through chronostratigraphic studies of contemporary deposits.
In addition, he does research on ancient orogens such as the Caledonian and Grenville Orogenies and has as a geochronologist and isotope geologist worked on rocks spanning most of the Earth’s history, including one of the oldest pieces of crust preserved, the Nuvvuagittuq Supracrustal belts.
